Landlord Information
In the Bolton Point Municipal Water System, the property owner retains the ultimate responsibility for paying the water bills. The information below is intended to help landlords best utilize our billing system.
Quarterly Billing
Each bill covers a three month billing period. The billing period closes 15 days prior to the mailing of the bill. The Commission does not cut final bills when tenants change. To discern the amount of the quarterly bill that applies to an outgoing tenant, landlords may call our office to request the apportioned amount.
Bills are mailed to customers in each municipality on the following schedule:
Town of Lansing and Village of Cayuga Heights: February 1, May 1, August 1, November 1
Town of Ithaca: March 1, June 1, September 1, December 1
Town of Dryden and Village of Lansing: January 1, April 1, July 1, October 1
Landlords are advised to budget for paying the quarterly water bills. Penalties of 10 to 15 percent are assessed to amounts not paid by the due date. If you don't receive a bill within a week of the mail date, you need to call the office. Penalties will not be removed solely on the grounds that you claim not to have received a bill in the mail.
Tenant Change
The Commission recognizes the property owner as the one retaining the ultimate responsibility to pay for municipal water and sewer. On receipt of written request from the property owner, the Commission will mail water bills to the tenant occupying the service address. The syntax of the addressee will read like this:
Joe Landlord c/o Jane Tenant
